Have been using this app for few years already... It is constantly improving and the support is extremely efficient. Best SRS system I have tried. Recommended app for all Chinese language students!

I absolutely love this app. It is an indispensable tool for me. Its one of the few SRS apps Ive tried that really "gets it". Nice, simple, customizable SRS algorithm, lots of configuration options but not too many. the interface is professional and simple. The fact that you can edit the cards and create custom decks is also very useful. The developer did a great job!
Ive tried dozens of apps for studying Chinese and this is the best, hands down. I love the interface, it illustrates your progress beautifully. Its great because Im very visually oriented, though you can switch to list form if you prefer. Theres no lag either, even with tons of stickies. Love it, totally epic.
Love how it tracks progress and has so many options for customizing. I am taking the HSK test in a month, so glad I stumbled across this gem. The audio is great too!
I can speak and understand Chinese, but cant read or write. I was looking for an app to help prepare me for HSK level 3 reading and writing. It not only had to be easy to use, but also comprehensive with the vocabulary. This app did the job. I took the test today and this app was the only study tool I used (other than sample practice tests). Slightly expensive, but a good study aid. Suggested improvements: - missing a few vocab words like 故事 and 知道 - ability to create new deck from select cards rather than select decks - option to "study" through entire deck without repeating any previous cards - dont spend time updating Dropbox option. Not an important feature. - bug: after you search for a word in the search bar, when you touch to select it, it doesnt actually go to the card you selected.
Nice app. My only gripe is that there seems to currently be a bug where the sounds used for hearing the words just stop playing.
It is a good layout and the studying has definitely helped me to keep up with things while on the go. I cant believe I spent hours writing down Japanese kanji years ago Kudos to the creator, it is a good effort and very helpful. I have encountered more than a few errors, however (wrong pinyin, wrong pronunciations, etc.) I know that there is an edit feature to manually make text corrections, but I hope that we will see some revisions done in future versions. Particularly since this is a slightly more premium price for an app.
This is the best app Ive found for studying Chinese hanzi with flash cards. There is audio for those of us studying without native speakers and the option to customize cards (traditional vs simplified for main display or pinyin number vs accent tones for pinyin display) as well as the option to create new cards. The algorithm used to handle "new" and "learned" entries has really improved my learning speed. I also love the "map" layout of the main browse screen, which allows me to see my progress at a glance. Good value for my $!
If you want to study hanzi for the HSK, this is the app to get. Not to complex so you dont spend all your time trying to get it to work, but just enough depth so it does what you want it to. The app just gets out of the way, so you can focus on your studies. I have Flashcards Deluxe, but this is the one I keep coming back to!
This is by far the best app to learn chinese and I believe it is a five star concept. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn chinese. The only criticism i have is there are a few errors in the words and some of the audio files dont work. Even so, i have been with this app for 2 updates and each update has made improvements and fixed some of the errors. In conclusion, this is still the best app for anyone wanting to learn chinese and i highly recommend it.
Let me begin this review by saying, THANK YOU for including traditional characters. THANK YOU THANK YOU. For those of us out there who prefer to teach, use, read and learn traditional characters, the dearth of Mandarin educational products available in the Western market can be depressing. Moving on, yes, this is probably the best flashcard app or study tool ANYWHERE if youre aiming to prepare for HSK/TOCFL or just want to memorize vocabulary. #PROS - Easy to use. Its true what someone said, the app gets out of the way and just lets you study. No frills, no complications. - Ready to Use Vocab Lists. You do not need to enter in characters, make your own cards (you can if you want) or make your own lists and the price includes thousands of cards. There are 16 preloaded options on Chinese and Taiwanese government official vocab and hanzi lists available to study. - Traditional Option Across All Cards. Did I mention how amazing this is? Now I can study HSK. - Color Coded. The flip/list option is nice for a quick visual. - Study Schedule. The calendar function is actually very handy. I can plot out cards and plan daily targets. %CONS - Mistakes. There are content mistakes in the app. The cards themselves arent usually wrong, theyre just in the wrong list or not organized properly. For example, 吃 chi1 is listed in the TOCFL Basic list as "to suffer" instead of "to eat". While thats correct, 吃 can be used "to suffer", "to eat" is the most basic and most frequently utilized definition of this hanzi. To make it worse, sentences on the 吃 card are for the eating definition, not for the suffering definition. Ive encountered this type of problem a lot and my students get confused when theyre using the app. Youd need existing Mandarin knowledge to figure out the mistakes. - Sentences. Theyre not useful at the beginning level, when you need them most. Most of the sentences are written on an intermediate difficulty level, and they use vocab not included in the previous lists or the current list youre studying. - Audio Quality. Its awesome they have audio clips for the vocab but the quality is staticky and volume inconsistent. Also the audio sometimes doesnt match the tone listed on the card . - Fewer Functions. Compared to its competitors, this app has nothing else but flashcards. Itd be amazing to have stroke order animation and allow the user to practice writing hanzi using touchscreen. To reiterate, this app really is the best easy to use FLASHCARD option out there, anywhere. However youd probably need to supplement with other Mandarin apps. Ive used the Kanji Japanese version of Stickystudy and I feel its more refined, probably because it seems the developer is stronger in Japanese and could catch a lot of subtle content errors during production. If the same attention to detail can be addressed here and if the errors and sentence discrepancy were corrected, this app would be perfect. Presently, its just near perfect.
Ive been using StickyStudy Chinese for over 6 months to learn Mandarin characters. Though I initially really liked the innovative interface design, the developer has introduced a bug in the recent version that renders the app completely useless to me. A new feature checks for duplicate stickies by preventing you from adding stickies in which the characters for that sticky already exist in your collection. Unfortunately, this feature only checks for duplicates in the simplified characters field, which means that if youre studying traditional characters and dont enter anything in the simplified character field, the app prevents you from *ever* adding any new character stickies. This feature is a really bad idea anyway since the same traditional character sometimes has entirely different pronunciations and meanings, so youd *want* to have duplicate characters in a Chinese study app. When I pointed this out in an email to the developer, he told me it would take about a month to fix it (though, he could just easily roll it back to the previous release). Im currently studying in an intensive Mandarin class in Taiwan and cant wait a month to add any new characters to my flashcard collection. Over the past 6 months, Ive invested a lot of time entering characters into the app, and now Im stuck in a horrible situation in which I cant add any new characters to my collections nor can can I transfer the existing ones to another app (the app also doesnt allow me to export the characters Ive entered — another bad design decision). Id once recommended this app to others but would now advise everyone to look elsewhere for better apps by more experienced and responsible developers.
I love sticky study - it is by far the best app out there...however, sometime after the last update, the import function stopped working. As such, I can no longer import custom decks that I created. On import to a new decks, once at the import screen, I can paste the characters I need. Once I hit IMPORT, the application closes. I went as far to reinstall the app... I hope this is fixed on the next update.
Has a lot of characters, and detail information on them, from traditional/simple forms to sample sentences. Really good and worth the money
Easy to use with the default character decks (HSK 1-6 and TOCFL) and graphically well designed. But I didnt realize how powerful it was until I started building my own custom decks. It is entirely customizable with a quick bit of learning some coding.
I use this app a lot. The interface is great, but they have a lot of errors on pronunciation, and higher level cards link tin the HSK. Level 6 deck do not always have example sentences.
This is probably the best app I have on my iPad. If u want to prepare for HSK or TOFCL there is no better way to learn the vocabulary. Anki for PC is not that good by the way.
This is one of the best apps I have come across for learning Chinese characters. It comes with decks that can be downloaded which is very helpful. No need to make your own cards. I used it to study for the HSK.
I love this app. Easy to use and intuitive, and they have come up with a great system for learning characters that seems to repeat your exposure to characters at just the right amount. Thank you for creating it!
I love this app. It has a smart flashcard system that helps you review and memorize the characters and words (with audio) for the HSK (chinese proficiency test). It has everything to help you memorize a strong base vocab. And the audio helps your pronunciation. Great UI.
